Coconino County Humane Society is Coconino Humane Association. The Coconino Humane Association serves as a voice for dogs, cats, and other domesticated animals in Coconino County that are in need of shelter and are victims of cruelty. Their goal is to investigate cruelty and take appropriate action, to disseminate information of humane treatment of animals, and wherever possible to foster humane education throughout the Northern Arizona area. The Coconino Humane Association provides shelter aid and shelter to unwanted, abandoned, and mistreated animals in Northern Arizona .
Since 1955 the humane society of Coconino along with its staff of six employees provides the people in Northern Arizona with the following services: Shelter for Homeless and Unwanted Animals, Lost and Found, Humane Education, Cruelty Investigation, Emergency Response, Senior Adoption Program, Disease Prevention, Adoption Services, 24 Hour Ambulance Service, and Spay / Neuter Program.
Coconino Humane Association receives annually approximately 30% of the animals that where strays impounded by City and County Animal Control Officers. Approximately 70% of the animals brought to the shelter are stray and unwanted pets turned over to Humane Society by area residents. When animals are placed in new homes, the shelter provides a spay/neuter program for all animals adopted at the shelter, rabies shots, ID tags, starter kits, the animals first set of inoculations and a free veterinarian examination.
