Coconino
County Health Department provides
services that prevent epidemics and the spread of disease, protect against environmental
hazards, promote and encourage healthy behaviors, and assure accessibility of
health services. This Health Department is comprised of the following programs
and units and programs Health Education and Promotion, Arizona Nutrition Network,
Community Nutrition, Food Plus, Healthy Families, Health Start, Heartbeat, Injury
Prevention, Tobacco Prevention, and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
The programs offered by the Coconino County Health Department
protect children, promote healthy behaviors related to nutrition and exercise,
monitor and treat communicable and infectious disease, immunize, ensure the
safety of the ground water, ensure the safety of food , prevent unwanted pregnancy,
help get access to medical care, monitor healthy development of children, prevent
child abuse, prevent undesirable birth outcomes, assist families of children
with special needs, teach children to recognize and say no to risky behaviors,
prevent unintentional injury, work to ensure animal safety and welfare, protect
the environment , and promote tobacco free lifestyle
